MALE FACIAL PROCEDURES
Plastic surgery does not have to look feminine. It can instead be used to accentuate masculinity and address concerns due to aging or genetics. There are typical problem areas that can be addressed. Both surgical and nonsurgical procedures can be used independently on in unison to address concerns. Typical areas of concern for men include the eyes, jawline, neck, and hairline.
Jaw Implant or Jaw Augmentation Surgery
โ
Jaw implants or jaw augmentation can create a stronger, more defined jaw line. Either an implant or injectable fillers can be used to help give you a stronger enhanced jawline. A jaw implant can eliminate the appearance of jowls and improve the look of a double chin. There are no external scars--the implants are placed from inside the mouth. Jaw implant surgery can give more balance to a face and help define a weakened jaw line. It can improve the overall structure of the face which can either reverse or slow certain aging changes.
Chin Implant or Chin Augmentation Surgery
โ
Aesthetically, the chin appears most balanced when it projects as far as the lower lip. A “weak” or receding chin can exaggerate the size of a normal nose and make an already prominent nose seem even larger. It can make the neck appear “fleshy” and cause the corners of the mouth to turn downward in an “unhappy” frown. An underdeveloped chin on a man can feminize the face and even result in unfounded presumptions about his strength or character. An overly developed chin, on the other hand, can have an equally unbalancing effect on the facial features.
A chin implant or chin augmentation aims to restore balance and harmony to the structure of the face. It can enhance the definition of the jaw line, achieve balance with the nose and other prominent features, and can create a stronger more masculine profile.
A chin implant can be placed through a small incision under the chin, or through the mouth. The implants are solid, but flexible and come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit the particular needs of the patient. For individuals with a naturally short neck, a chin implant can provide the illusion of a longer, slimmer neck, and eliminate the appearance of a double chin. Chin or Neck (Submental) liposuction can further enhance the benefit of cosmetic Chin Implant surgery.

Neck Surgery
โ
One of the biggest complaints from men is not having enough definition of the jawline, and a heavy neck. The structure of the jaw and neck are intimately related in providing a youthful and masculine appearance. Sometimes there is adequate jawline structure that is masked by a suboptimal neck, and vice versa. Most neck surgery in men can be performed through a small incision under the chin. Through this incision, proper sculpting and tightening of the neck structures and muscles can be performed, as well as addressing excessive fat deposits. Liposuction alone can address superficial fat just under the skin and above the muscles, but most patients with a fatty neck have subplatysmal fat. This fat is deep to the muscle and can only be removed through a deep neck lift.
Hairline Surgery in Men
โ
A high hairline in men can be caused by genetics or by progressive androgenic hair loss. Some men are born with a high hairline, while the hairline may recede in others over time. Hair grafting can typically be used to help maintain density of the scalp hair, but is typically insufficient or suboptimal when used to try to lower the hairline. There is also a fixed number of available grafts which can easily be exhausted.
โ
Hairline lowering surgery can advance the entire scalp forward. The extra forehead skin is actually cut away. This procedure is performed through a hairline incision. It can dramatically lower the hairline while maintaining normal hair density.
โ
As with hair grafting, risks of this procedure include visibility of the scar, or potential loss of hair density with aging. But there is currently no better way to advance the hairline forward with adequate hair density.
